John Hayes - Managing Partner
John Hayes has 28 years of experience encompassing all major areas of the commercial real estate business including property acquisitions, divestitures, development, financing, financial reporting, asset management, property management and leasing.
Mr. Hayes has extensive experience in the field of industrial development having directed development programs comprising land acquisition and the build out and leasing of several million square feet of prime industrial space. He has directed the acquisition of over 15 million square feet of commercial, industrial and retail properties across Canada and the United States, the underwriting and evaluation of over 70 million square feet of investment properties and, has directed the asset management for over 25 million square feet of commercial property.
Mr. Hayes is Managing Partner where he co-directs activities which include real estate advisory, asset management, leasing, portfolio analysis, property acquisition and dispositions, corporate real estate consulting, transaction management and real estate due diligence services for a variety of clients in Canada, Europe and the United States. Prior to forming Blackwood Partners Inc., Mr. Hayes was Senior Vice President, Investment and Development of CIBC Development Corporation, Vice President, Real Estate, London Life Insurance Company and Asset Manager with Penreal Advisors Limited. Mr. Hayes is a Chartered Accountant (1985) and holds an MBA from Queen’s University and a BSc. (Hons) from the University of Toronto.
Michael Cairns - Managing Partner
Michael Cairns is Managing Partner with Blackwood Partners Inc. where he co-directs activities of this practice which provides pension fund advisory, asset management, leasing, due diligence, portfolio analysis, development management, property acquisition and disposition, corporate real estate and tenant representation services for a variety of clients in Canada, Europe and the U.S. Michael has more than 30 years of diverse experience in all areas of commercial real estate and has directed the completion of more than 75 million square feet of office, industrial and retail leases across Canada and the United States on behalf of both landlords and tenants and has been involved in the acquisition of more than $5 billion and the disposition of more than $2 billion of commercial properties. Previously, Michael was Senior Vice President, Leasing and Business Development with CIBC Development Corporation, Vice President, Leasing with Trizec Corporation and Director of Leasing with the Cadillac Fairview Corporation. Mr. Cairns has a BA Economics (1980) from the University of Western Ontario.
Jonathan Button - Senior Vice President, Asset Management & Operations
Jonathan Button has over 20 years experience in all areas of the commercial real estate business, including real estate operations (from both asset management and property management perspectives), finance and reporting, asset sales and acquisitions, leasing, and development. Mr. Button is Senior Vice President, Asset Management and Operations where he oversees all aspects of asset management for the group’s assets under administration. Previously, he was Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Patriot Equities Corporation, a shopping centre re-development company based in Toronto and owning assets in Ontario and western Canada. Prior to that, he had overall responsibility for the real estate investment portfolio at London Life, and held a variety of operational and financial positions at Bramalea Centres Limited, and First City Development Corp. Ltd. Mr. Button is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Carmen Bruccoleri - Vice President Finance
Carmen Bruccoleri has over 17 years of financial management experience in the real estate business, including office, retail, commercial development, and residential development. Ms. Bruccoleri is currently Vice President Finance with Blackwood, where she oversees all aspects of financial administration including financial reporting requirements for the group's assets under contract. Previously, she was Vice President Finance for PenEquity Realty Corporation, a real estate advisory company specializing in development and property management of retail and residential assets in Ontario. Piror to this, she was Accounting Manager at Oxford Properties where she reported on a portfolio of office, retail, and development assets, and was involved in the company's accounting system software conversion. Ms. Bruccoleri is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Grace Ma, Vice President, Portfolio Management, Blackwood Partners Inc. Ms. Ma oversees performance measurement, strategic planning and asset management for properties across Canada and facilitates due diligence services for acquisitions and dispositions of properties. Ms. Ma has over 10 years of experience in all major areas of the commercial real estate business including acquisitions, dispositions, and development of more than 19.5 million square feet of office, industrial, and retail investment properties throughout Canada. Ms. Ma is a CFA® charterholder, Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CGA) and a licensed broker with the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO). She holds an MBA from Ivey Business School [the University of Western Ontario] and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Ji Nan University.
Peter L. Stafl - Vice President, Operations & Broker of Record, Blackwood Partners Realty Inc., Brokerage
Peter Stafl has over 26 years of commercial real estate experience, a unique blend of both commercial brokerage and landlord expertise. Over his career, Mr. Stafl has been directly responsible for the leasing of over 10 million square feet of commercial office and retail buildings in the Canadian marketplace. Mr. Stafl, as Vice President, Operations, is responsible for directing the property management, leasing and asset management of Blackwood’s Ontario portfolio of 10 million square feet of industrial, office and retail properties. Prior to this role, Mr. Stafl, as Vice President, Leasing & Asset Management for Blackwood Partners, was responsible for conducting leasing management and asset management for the portfolio of properties asset managed by Blackwood throughout Canada. Prior to joining Blackwood Partners, Mr. Stafl spent 9 years with GWL Realty Advisors Inc. as Senior Director, Leasing responsible for the leasing of their Downtown Toronto portfolio of approximately 6.2 million square feet, 7 years in commercial brokerage with Colliers International as Associate Vice President, Commercial Division and 10 years with Bramalea Limited as Director, Office Leasing. Mr. Stafl holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The University of Western Ontario, Huron College and is a licensed Broker with the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO).
Bill Rempel - Vice President & General Manager
Bill Rempel has over 25 years of commercial real estate experience. He has been involved with a large BC real estate portfolio which included downtown offices, a super regional shopping centre, free standing retail, and industrial properties. This portfolio received numerous industry awards including; BOMA Canada’s National Building of the Year Award, BC Hydro Power Smart Award of Excellence, BOMA BC Earth Awards, BOMA BC Building of the Year Awards, GO Green Certification and an ICSC Re-development of the Year Award. Bill is Vice President and General Manager of Central City in Surrey, British Columbia. Bill’s community involvement includes President of the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association, Past President of the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association, Past Director BOMA BC, Executive Member Vancouver Fair Tax Coalition, Past President Burnaby Board of Trade, 2001 Provincial Chair International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC), Treasurer/Director of the BC Shopping Centre Association, and Vice Chair of a Burnaby RCMP Community Policing Advisory Group. Bill received his CGA in 1988 and the BOMI Canada RPA designation in 1998. In addition, Bill has attended Leadership Programs at Queens University and the Niagara Institute.
Terry McRobb - Vice President & General Manager, Alberta
Terry McRobb has over 25 years commercial real estate experience. She has been involved in several areas of the commercial real estate business including industrial and retail commercial property management and leasing and redevelopment, working for national and regional Owners and Managers. Prior to joining Blackwood Partners, Terry held various positions within ING Real Estate Canada and its predecessor Summit REIT. She was responsible for the Management of a retail and light industrial portfolio of 7 million square feet positioned across greater Edmonton Alberta, Saskatchewan and BC.
Prior to this time, Ms McRobb held various Management positions with Oxford Properties Group, Confederation Life, Bramalea Shopping Centre Group and Stewart Green Properties.
Well respected in the business community, Ms. McRobb is a long standing Board Member with BOMA Edmonton, an inaugural member of Edmonton CREW and a supporting member of NAIOP. She earned her Business Diploma from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). She participates in a variety of committees in various roles and capacities and has publicly presented at the Edmonton Real Estate Forum. Ms. McRobb is a licensed Broker with Real Estate Council of Alberta and is the Broker for Blackwood Partners Property Corporation.
